AMBER
MULTI-COLOR STERLING SILVER FLOWER RING 102
A
nice sterling silver shank tapering from 1/4" at the front
to 1/8" at the back supporting this lovely five petal Amber
flower.
The
flower has two petals of Green Amber, two of Cognac Amber and
one of Honey Amber. The picture, although a little darker than
the actual ring, shows the inclusions in the Amber. The flower
measures 5/8" around.
This
ring is a size 8.
Amber
is a fossilized tree resin of now-extinct conifer trees and
ancient pine trees. It is an amorphous hydrocarbon and may contain
particles of various foreign materials, trapped insects, and
air bubbles. Its lustre is greasy to resinous. The resin must
be several million years old to be called amber. Recently hardened
resins are called copals.
Care
and treatment: As amber is soft, it can be easily scratched.
Be certain to store amber jewelry separately from your other
jewelry. You may wash Amber in mild soap and cool water. If
you wish, you may polish it with a soft cloth using cooking
olive oil and then wipe it clean with a dry soft cloth.
